Simple Pasta Recipe

Inspired by a recent cover of Williams-Sonoma magazine, we decided to make our own homemade pappardelle.

Here's the deal folks, pasta made at home is actually super easy! And it's as fresh as can be. So careful, there's no turning back! But with something this simple that tastes so good, full speed forward ladies and gentlemen...

Ingredients
1 cup of flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 egg
1 Tablespoon of water
Directions
Mix together the flour and salt.
Pile the flour into a dome shape on a clean countertop* and using your fingers, create a small round cavity on the top in the center.
Crack the egg into the cavity at the top of the flour dome (or mountain or volcano, whatever you wish to call it).
Mix together to form a dough, and add the water while mixing.
Knead the dough with your hands for a few minutes, then place on a floured surface.
Using a rolling pin (or a pasta attachment on your mixer), roll out the dough to the preferred level of thickness.
Cut into stars, stripes, bowties, squares, rectangles!

* Now the old-school, original way is to make your volcano of flour on the countertop, but to minimize the mess, you can replicate the same effort in a bowl.
